They are durable, easy to clean with mild soap and water, and well-suited for a wide range of electronic and interactive device applications. Designed similarly to illuminated rubber keys commonly found on consumer appliances and handheld tools, they integrate easily into custom hardware projects and open-source platforms.

Each key measures 10 mm × 10 mm with a height of 10 mm, and features a 5 mm grid spacing. The pads can be tiled seamlessly edge-to-edge to form larger key matrices, or cut to size as needed thanks to the flexible silicone material. The molded structure provides approximately 3 mm of travel for a satisfying, low-noise actuation — ideal for environments where silent operation is preferred.

A conductive pad ring is located beneath each key, designed to interface with appropriately spaced PCB contacts for reliable switching. The internal cavity supports the optional installation of a 3 mm LED for backlighting (5 mm LEDs are not recommended). The presence of the LED does not affect actuation performance, but enhances visual feedback and usability; diffused LEDs provide the most uniform illumination.
